Toni Kroos has gained legendary status for Real Madrid after the midfielder made his 400th appearance for the Spanish giants in their La Liga clash against Espanyol.

The German was named in Carlo Ancelotti’s starting line-up and even provided an assist as Real Madrid kept their hopes of retaining their La Liga title alive against the Catalan club.

Kroos has now become just the sixth foreign player in the history of Real Madrid to make 400 appearances for the club.

Karim Benzema, Roberto Carlos, Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcelo, and Luka Modric were the previous foreign players who have in the past reached the landmark of appearances for Los Blancos.

Since joining Real Madrid in 2014 from Bayern Munich, Kroos has won four UEFA Champions League titles and two La Liga crowns with the Spanish giants.

Real Madrid in search of Kroos replacement

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are looking at signing Leicester City midfielder, Youri Tielemans as a direct replacement for Toni Kroos who looks set to leave Santiago Bernabeu, Football Espana reports.

Kroos current deal with Real Madrid expires in the summer and the German has hinted he could be retiring from football at the end of the ongoing campaign.

That decision has forced Real Madrid to start looking for ideal replacements for the midfielder who has played nine seasons with the Spanish giants and won multiple trophies.

Kroos backs controversial European Super League

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Toni Kroos has come out in support of the controversial European Super League and believe the proposed competition will one day become a reality.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Juventus are the only three clubs that remain at least publicly committed to the idea, but face plenty of skepticism on both their motives and the concept itself.

Kroos labelled UEFA as not being a good Samaritan for football and insists the idea of the proposed league should be considered.
