According to Football Espana, Benitez has now disclosed that his Real Madrid team were not allowed to win because of too many off-pitch antics.

“In the Cup, they eliminated us due to an administrative error with Cheryshev. I warned them three times, and even so an administrative error is made. Then it seemed that it was my fault, because I was gone."

Benitez slams Ronaldo and Bale

Meanwhile, Benitez has slammed Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale over alleged lies, claiming it was difficult to plug leaks in the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium dressing room, Daily Mirror reports.

The veteran manager claimed his downfall at Real Madrid was caused by a high-strung squad that included the two veterans, who were not afraid to run to the media when things got difficult.

The former Liverpool manager also refuted allegations that he treated Bale better than Ronaldo during his time in charge of the Spanish giants, as was widely speculated in the media.

Benitez could return to EPL

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Benitez being considered as a potential replacement for Steve Cooper at Nottingham Forest.

Despite a promising start to life in English top flight, the Trees were left at the bottom of the log after a fifth defeat on the bounce.

The ex-Liverpool manager, who famously won the UCL with the club in 2005, was initially linked with a move to Leicester City.
