Former Liverpool and Everton boss Rafa Benitez is reportedly being considered as a potential replacement for Steve Cooper at Nottingham Forest.

Despite a promising start to life in English top flight, Nottingham Forest find themselves at the bottom of the log after a fifth defeat on the bounce on Monday, October 3.

Leicester City, who are out of sorts themselves, were too good for the newly promoted side as they cruised to a 4-0 win to pile more pressure on Cooper, who is now on the brink of becoming the latest Premier League managerial casualty.

As per The Telegraph, Benitez is now emerging as a potential replacement.

The former Liverpool manager, who famously won the Champions League with the Merseyside club in 2005, was initially linked with a move to Leicester City before the international break.

But it seems Brendan Rodgers has bought himself a bit more time at the King Power stadium after the 4-0 win, with Benitez now being linked more to the Nottingham Forest job.

After the Leicester defeat, Cooper was the first to admit there was concern over the team’s form but refused to criticize individual players.

"I completely understand the situation and the question and respect it 100 per cent," He said.

"I'll believe in them until the end. I will never say they are not good enough as that will have a negative affect. But at same time we need to be much better.

Tuchel turns down offer to join Bundesliga club

Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported that Thomas Tuchel has reportedly rejected an offer to return to the Bundesliga following his sack at Premier League club Chelsea.

Tuchel was contacted by Bayer Leverkusen but has turned down the offer, inadvertently rejecting a chance to make a swift return to the touchline.

Leverkusen has also endured a difficult start to their campaign, having only picked up five points from their opening eight games of the Bundesliga season.
