For Croatia's Luka Modric, playing against former and current Real Madrid teammates definitely had its perks.

Modric came up against Vinicius Junior, Eder Militao, Rodrygo and Casemiro when Croatia took on Brazil in the World Cup quarter-finals.

Croatia defeated the South American side on penalties, with Croatian keeper Dominik Livakovic crucially saving Rodrygo's penalty, Eurosport reported.

Modric was asked about the penalty in question and whether he gave Livakovic any tips on how to save it.

While he denied helping Livakovic with Rodrygo's penalty, he admitted to giving him advice for Casemiro's spotkick.

The Croatian keeper even went the right way for Casemiro's attempt but couldn't parry it away because it was so well-struck.

How Croatia's Modric comforted Rodrygo after penalty miss

Luka Modric is seen as somewhat of a father figure at Real Madrid, and it's easy to see why.

The veteran midfielder put aside his celebrations to console club teammate Rodrygo after Brazil were beaten by Croatia at the World Cup.

Rodrygo had the Selecao's first penalty saved, and the team were eventually beaten 4-2 in the shootout, Sports Brief reported.

These two football stars were spotted swapping shirts at halftime of the epic match in an adorable way despite going into the dressing room without scoring any goal.

Over the years, Modric and Casemiro have established a superb relationship as they both played together at Real Madrid before the Brazilian star moved to Manchester United.
