Ironically, their stats in the first 20 games of this season are eerily similar to their stats from the first 20 games of last season.

Madrid went on to win the La Liga title and the UEFA Champions League last season and will be hoping they can also replicate that feat this season.

After their defeat to Vallecano, though, Madrid find themselves two points behind Barcelona.

With one round of fixtures to go before the World Cup begins, Los Blancos could find themselves trailing their rivals when the league breaks for he global tournament.

Real’s first league defeat

Goals from Santi Comesana, Alvaro Garcia and a penalty from Oscar Trejo helped Vallecano to a shock 3-2 win over the defending La Liga champions. The BBC reported that Luka Modric and Eder Militao did get their side on the scoresheet, but Madrid could not find that all-important equaliser.

Supercomputer predicts La Liga winner after Real Madrid suffered their first defeat

A supercomputer has made a prediction for the final Spanish Primera division standings after Real Madrid suffered their first loss in Spain's top flight.

Los Blancos suffered a 3-2 defeat to Rayo Vallecano in La Liga on Monday night to leave arch-nemesis Barcelona two points clear at the top, Sports Brief reported.

The loss ends the perfect start of the season for Carlo Ancelotti's side and crucially means they stay second on the table.
