The two Brazilians then started dancing, angering the Atletico fans.
Supporters started to throw items onto the field at the Madrid players, adding to the tension in the derby.
Vini almost grabbed a goal of his own 18 minutes later when he combined well with Modric, tore past the defenders, and hit the post. The ball deflected away into the path of Fede Valverde, who smashed home from close range to give Real a 2-0 lead at the break.
The scoreline didn’t do Atletico justice as they dominated large spells of the first half. Los Rojiblancos had eight shots in total, with three on target. Antoine Griezmann had the side’s best chance, but his effort was pushed wide by Thibaut Courtois in the Real goal.
The second half was a much more subdued affair.
Atletico pressured their opponents more as they sought a goal but no matter what they tried, there always seemed to be a Real player in the way.
