The French striker required surgery to fix his finger, but the operation and rehab would have sidelined him for two months. Benzema opted against surgery and returned to playing for Madrid.

During the 2021/22 season, Benzema confirmed that he did have surgery but didn’t take time off to rehab his finger. Unfortunately, he injured it again.
