FC Porto and Rio Ave, two of the clubs Christian Atsu played for during his time in Portugal, have paid a glowing tribute to the late footballer.
Atsu tragically passed away following the earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria on February 6, 2023.
The 31-year-old's lifeless body was pulled out of rubble on Saturday, February 18, 2023, after 12 days of being trapped under the wreckage of the apartment he lived in.
His death left the footballing world in shock, with his former clubs FC Porto and Rio Ave paying their last respect to the player.

Atsu's first stop in Europe was in Portugal, where he signed for Porto as a teenager, growing through the ranks before making his senior team debut in 2011. He spent a season on loan at Rio Ave.
The former Ghana international earned a dream move to England in 2013, joining Chelsea before subsequently playing for Bournemouth, Everton and Newcastle United in the English leagues.
Before Atsu's demise, he played for Turkish club Hatayspor. His last game for the club was against Kasimpasa, where he climbed off the bench to score the winner.
