Lionel Messi is close to agreeing on a deal with Major League Soccer team Inter Miami. The deal will see him become the highest-ever paid player in the MLS.

Daily Mail reports that Messi will okay the move once the World Cup is over. The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner has a home in Miami and could be open to seeing out the remainder of his illustrious career in the US.

Messi will take a pay cut on what he is currently earning in France but will still be the best-ever paid player the American game has ever seen.

Barcelona reunion

Even more interestingly, the club associated with Manchester United legend David Beckham is planning to link up Messi with his friends Cesc Fabregas and Luis Suarez.

After leaving Club Nacional, Suarez is currently a free agent, while Fabregas is with Serie B side Como.

PSG are, however, interested in extending Messi's contract. Barcelona's President Joan Laporta has also in the past expressed interest in mending fences with Messi and bringing him back to Camp Nou for one last hoorah.

Cristiano Ronaldo could move to Saudi Arabia

At the same time, Sports Brief reported that Messi's arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly been offered a lucrative multi-million deal to join a top Saudi club. The veteran striker is currently without a club following his abrupt and controversial exit from Man United.

United terminated the 37-year-old's contract last week with a few months left on his two-year contract with the club.

During the interview, the Portugal international directly hit out at United's top leadership, including club boss Erik ten Hag, who he accused of disrespecting him. The former Real Madrid superstar is currently on World Cup duty with Portugal in Qatar as he hunts for his next club ahead of the January transfer window.
