There won't be any further discussions until the World Cup is over, which is most likely in early 2023. At that point, Messi can sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign team.

Lionel Messi 'not leaving PSG'

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi will not be leaving Paris Saint-Germain in January amid suggestions of interest from Barcelona and Inter Miami, Sports Mole reports.

Messi’s contract is set to expire in the French capital in June of next year, although the Ligue 1 champions have the option of extending the 35-year-old's deal for a further 12 months until June 2024.

Barcelona is still a top target for Messi, and a recent report suggested the Catalan club was prepared to look into the potential re-signing of his deal at the beginning of 2023.

Messi’s insane long-range thunderous strike

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Lionel Messi scored an outrageous goal, as Paris Saint-Germain continued their unbeaten streak in the French top flight.

Messi has been in tremendous form since the start of the current campaign, with his strike against Maccabi Haifa winning the goal of the week in the Champions League.

He also scooped the Ligue 1 Player of the Month for September for his sterling performance in the month under review, underscoring his return to his devastating best.
