Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, Georginio Wijnaldum has been voted as the flop of the year in the French Ligue 1 for the 2021/22 season.
The Dutchman who joined PSG from English Premier League side Liverpool last summer, has had an underwhelming campaign in his first year in the French capital.
Wijnaldum emerged as the unfortunate winner of the award after a poll was conducted in France with over 100,000 votes casted by fans of the Ligue 1 Sports Bible reports.
The 31-year-old Dutchman failed to find his spark in France despite making 22 starts for PSG in 38 Ligue 1 games which led to severally criticisms from fans and pundits.
The former Liverpool and Newcastle United midfielder had previously admitted he is presently unsettled and isn’t completely happy in his first season in Paris.
La Liga files complaint against PSG over Mbappe
Meanwhile, the tensions between the authorities of the La Liga and the French Ligue 1 has entered new heights as the Spanish league has filed a complaint to UEFA over Paris Saint-Germain.
According to Marca, La Liga is insisting PSG broke financial fair play rules when it gave Kylian Mbappé a new deal that convinced him to reject a move to Real Madrid.
PSG's recent losses, according to the Spanish league, make it financially impossible for the club to reach an agreement with Mbappé while keeping an expensive squad that includes Lionel Messi and Neymar.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Paris Saint-Germain have sacked Mauricio Pochettino just months after winning the Ligue 1 title as the club hierarchy have not been impressed with the Argentine manager.
Pochettino still has one year left on his current PSG deal but the French giants have decided to terminate the former Tottenham manager’s contract.
