- The Argentine and Neymar were singled out for the ouster, with reports claiming the Brazilian is desperate to leave the club
- Messi, however, is not considering an exit from the French club as it was gathered that he wants to see off his contract
Seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi has decided to stay at French club Paris Saint-Germain beyond this season despite the criticism he received from the club fans.
Messi and teammate Neymar were booed by the club fans following their failure to qualify for the Champions League quarterfinal.
Daily Mail reports that the former Barcelona captain has vowed to be successful at the Parc des princes despite rumours linking him back to the Catalan club.
Furious PSG fans expressed their frustrations with the Argentine by painting graffiti on the walls of the club's Camps des Loges training ground, demanding changes and for president Nasser Al-Khelaifi to leave.
But latest reports from Paris say all that transpired following their exit from the Champions League will not deter the player who is determined to stay beyond the current campaign.
A person close to the Argentine told Sportsmail:
“He's a winner and he is looking forward to turning the boos into cheers over the next few months.”
The timing of those words may fall flat on the ears of PSG fans angered by their Champions League exit, but equally, Messi is eager to put things right.
