The Argentine saw his penalty saved by Thibaut Courtois as the Belgian goalkeeper guessed right to parry Messi’s spot-kick while the game was still goalless.

According to Daily Post, Lionel Messi has now equaled former Arsenal and Barcelona star, Thierry Henry’s record for most missed penalties in Champions League history.

The 34-year-old already has five goals in the Champions League this season, with all coming in the group stage but will fancy adding more goals to his collection if PSG progress to the next round.

Kylian Mbappe will be the hero for Paris-Saint Germain as once again the Frenchman scored a stoppage-time goal to hand 1-0 victory and a slim advantage to PSG heading into the reverse fixture in Madrid.

Meanwhile, Football fans around the globe have reacted to Lionel Messi’s penalty miss against Real Madrid in Tuesday’s February 15 Champions League game.

Messi stepped up to take PSG’s penalty but missed from the spot as Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois guessed correctly to keep out the Argentine from scoring.

Fans took to social media to express their emotions on the 34-year-old penalty miss with some comparing Messi to arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo.

Mbappe nets brilliant stoppage-time winner to give Parisians advantage

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Paris Saint Germain edged Real Madrid 1-0 in a pulsating Champions League round of 16 first leg on Tuesday, February 15 at the Parc des Princes.

It was Kylian Mbappe who got the winner with a brilliant goal in stoppage time to give his side an advantage over the 13-time Champions League winners.

The hosts were thoroughly dominant, particularly in possession, but somehow failed to break down the Spanish giants for large parts of the game.
