- The incident occurred during referee's optional time in the 0-0 draw against Baroka FC in the DStv Premiership, when both players were looking to clear the ball
- Mako was knocked unconscious, and had to be taken to the nearest hospital to the Peter Mokaba Stadium after being stabilised by the team's medical staff and the venue's paramedics
Paseka Mako will be fine after his collision with goalkeeper Richard Ofori last night.
The incident happened during injury time of the team's DStv Premiership match against Baroka FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. The match ended 0-0 after the referee and Pirates captain Happy Jele agreed that the match end earlier by 10 minutes.
Eleven minutes were initially added to injury time after a floodlight failure about 20 minutes before the incident occurred.
The club said in a statement this morning:
"Following the emergency injury involving defender Paseka Mako in the DStv Premiership clash against Baroka FC last night, Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that the 28-year-old is in a stable condition."
"The doctor has revealed that CT scan results have shown no signs of skull fracture or any brain haemorrhage however, the player has sustained fracture to the face and nose. He will remain in High Care and will be assessed by the neurosurgeon again this morning."

A horrifying scene unfolded at the end of Baroka FC 0-0 draw with Orlando Pirates when defender Paseka Mako was knocked out accidentally by his goalkeeper Richard Ofori's knee.
As reported by Sports Brief, the incident happened during an extended injury time of 11 additional minutes.

Ofori had come out to clear the ball with Pirates looking to press for the winner, when he collided with Mako as he jostled to get to the ball while a Baroka FC player was about to pounce on it.
