- Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs will meet in the second Soweto Derby of the DStv Challenge season
- The Buccaneers are looking to return to the top of the table, while the Amakhosi intend on climbing up the standings
- Chiefs thumped Pirates 3-0 in the corresponding fixture last September, with the Buccaneers looking to settle that score
The second Soweto Derby of the DStv Diski Challenge will take place on Saturday afternoon at the Bidvest Wits Stadium in Braamfontein.
Kaizer Chiefs thumped Orlando Pirates 3-0 in the corresponding fixture last September, so the Buccaneers are looking to settle the score with the Amakhosi as far as that is concerned. More importantly, Pirates needs to sort itself out after a poor recent run of form saw them being replaced at the top of the log table by a white-hot Stellenbosch Football Club.
The Buccaneers were defeated last weekend 3-1 by Chippa United, while the Amakhosi beat Mamelodi Sundowns in 4-3 thriller. The Sea Robbers currently sit in second place on 49 points a point behind Stellies, with the Phefeni Glamour Boys further back in sixth place having amassed 37 points.
Pirates has never won the competition since its inception in 2014, and this season presents the closest they have ever been to doing so. Chiefs have also never won the Diski Challenge, though they did win the Multichoice Diski Shield back in 2018.
Coincidentally, they defeated their rivals Pirates and Sundowns in the semifinal and final of that competition respectively.
Coverage of the match starts at 12.25pm on SuperSport PSL, channel 202.
