  • Kwame Peprah scored his first-ever goal in CAF interclub competitions as the Ghanaian forward helped Orlando Pirates record an emphatic win
  • Peprah was on target and contributed with an assist to help the Buccaneers defeat Eswatini side Royal Leopards 6-2
  • The win catapults the 1995 CAF Champions League winners to the summit of Group B in the CAF Confederations Cup

Former King Faisal forward Kwame Peprah was on the scoresheet as Orlando Pirates clawed back from two goals down to thrash Royal Leopards on Sunday evening.

The 21-year-old scored and laid on an assist as the South African outfit returned back to winning ways following their defeat against Libyan side Al-Ittihad on matchday two of the Europa League equivalent competition.

Peprah, who lasted 90 minutes in the eight-goal fest, takes his goal tally to five in 19 matches played for the Soweto-based side in all competitions.

How did Peprah perform against Royal Leopards?

Peprah was making his third appearance in the CAF Confederations Cup against the Eswatini club and it appeared he was going to end up on the losing side after just seven minutes.

However, an own goal from a Leopards' defender sparked the comeback which was followed by two quickfire goals which included Kwame's maiden goal in Africa before halftime.

Two goals in the opening 15 minutes of the second half ended the game as a contest, but Peprah had other ideas when he teed off Terrence Dzvukamanja to add the icing on the cake.

Orlando Pirates trounce Eswatini side Royal Leopards in CAF Confederations Cup

Earlier Sports Brief reported that Orlando Pirates got their CAF Confederations Cup campaign back on track with a thumping 6-2 win over Royal Leopards of Eswatini.

Mzwandile Mabelesa put Leopards into an early lead in the fifth minute after it deflected off Pirates defender Happy Jele.

The match had hardly settled when the 'home' team went 2-0 up three minutes later thanks to South African striker Thabiso Mokenkoane's header from a header after a pin-point cross from Mancoba Maseko.

This appeared to kickstart the lacklustre Buccaneers into life as Machawe Dlamini, unfortunately, redirected an awkward Kabelo Dlamini cross past his own goalkeeper into the back of the net to make it 2-1.
