Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has scored his 100th career goal thereby breaking a record held by the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Didier Drogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Osimhen is the hot cake now in the Serie A where the Napoli strongman has registered 18 League goals and 20 in all competitions with his club topping the table.

In the history of the Italian Serie A, no Nigerian has ever won the Golden Boot award, but Osimhen is now on the verge of breaking the record this season.

He was in brilliant form for Napoli on Friday, 17 February, netting the second goal in his side's 2-0 win over Sassuolo and that strike was his 100th.

How Osimhen broke record

To put things into context, Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 100th goal after 301 games, while seven-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi netted his century after 210 games.

According to a report on SuperSport, Drogba got his 100th goal after 236 games, while Ibrahimovic made it after 245 games.

Meanwhile, Napoli chiefs will have to decide Osimhen's future this summer as clubs in the Premier League are preparing to make bids for the Nigerian star.

Chelsea and Liverpool are among the sides interested in Osimhen.

Garba Lawal rates Osimhen

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how former Nigerian international, Garba Lawal stated emphatically that Napoli striker Victor Osimhen would be named Africa's next best player if his team wins the Serie A title this term.

The Super Eagles man has been in wonderful form in the Italian league this season, scoring 18 goals for the Partenopei and 20 goals across all competitions.

After 23 games, Napoli are also topping the Serie A standings and with 15 games left to the end of the term, are on the road to success.

Sports Brief spoke with Lawal, who played 57 games for the Super Eagles. He is impressed with Osimhen's form.
