Napoli, on the other hand, have equally been in good shape, having got off to a flying start to their new season after picking 14 points from six matches.

Therefore, the Sunday showdown at San Siro represented one of the biggest tests for either side as the race for the Scudetto starts to shape up.

However, it was Napoli who eventually came out on top after 90 minutes of action, with the Blues scoring twice in the second half to cart home the three points.

The first half of the match was pretty much even, with neither side managing to find the back of the net.

It was in the second half when proper action kicked off as the visitors broke the deadlock in the 55th minute through Matteo Politano, who fired home from the spot.

However, Napoli's lead was shortlived as Milan drew level nine minutes later through Olivier Giroud.

Giovanni Simeone went on to bag the winner for the Naples with just 12 minutes left on the clock as the tie ended 2-1.

The win was enough to ensure that Napoli end the weekend top on the charts with 17 points, on level with second-placed Atalanta.
