Manchester United's wait for silverware is finally over after six years.

The Red Devils beat Newcastle United 2-0 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday evening to win the first trophy of Erik Ten Hag's era.

The last trophy to be paraded at Old Trafford was the 2017 UEFA Europa League won in Stockholm, Sweden, under Jose Mourinho when they beat Ajax 2-0.

Dubravka eligible for winner's medal

Man United paid a £2 million loan fee and had the option to make it permanent for £6 mil for Newcastle United goalkeeper, Martin Dubravka.

As reported by ESPN, the Magpies recalled the Swede goalkeeper in January.

English goalkeeper, Nick Pope was red-carded in the game against Liverpool and was ruled out of the final. Dubravka was cup-tied, having featured twice for United in the competition this season, leaving Eddie Howe to turn to Loris Karius.

As reported by Manchester Evening News, if Newcastle had won, Dubravka would not be eligible for a medal but despite being on the losing side, he would receive a medal.

EFL rules state that each team receives 30 medals to hand out to their players and can request more at the club's cost. Man United used 27 players throughout the competition.

Will Ronaldo receive a medal?

Sports Brief also reported on Ronaldo being eligible for a medal if the team deem it fit to hand one over to their departed star.

He played no part of the Red Devils' campaign in the competition but was part of the squad in the early stages of the cup.

Ronaldo left the club following the termination of his contract over an explosive interview he did with Piers Morgan.
