  • Manchester United's women's team are said to be uncomfortable with Mason Greenwood's possible return
  • The 21-year-old could be cleared for a return to action after charges against him were dropped by the courts
  • Man United is still expected to give more clarity on its stance and on the future of the striker at Old Trafford

Mason Greenwood's likely return to professional football is set to be faced with a myriad of challenges and huge obstacles.

It is still unclear what the future holds for the 21-year-old, after his sexual assault charges were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Services (CPS).

Manchester United are yet to release a clear guideline on if he will be accepted back into the team. The striker has been suspended since last year.

As the Athletic aptly puts it, Greenwood was neither proven guilty nor was he cleared, leaving him in limbo. Avid female football fans are said to be against his return.

Manchester United Women also resent the idea that the teenage striker should be reintegrated into the squad.

Alleged audio of Greenwood's alleged victim, that was widely circulated last year, has massively injured his reputation.

One fan said:

"They need to make a statement and letting him back would be the worst thing they could do. It would set our club back."

United players 'reject' Greenwood

This comes at a time when Sports Brief reported on Man United players reportedly rejecting the idea of Greenwood re-joining the squad.

It has now emerged that some players in the team are also not happy with the idea of reintegrating the 21-year-old back into the fold.

There are reportedly fears that Greenwood's readmission would derail the tremendous progress made under Erik ten Hag this season.

Nike give update on Greenwood

Sportswear giant, Nike has reportedly dropped Greenwood as a brand ambassador, despite his recent social media activity.

The 21-year-old reportedly altered his Instagram bio to read he was still a Red Devils player and a registered athlete with the brand.

While he is still legally a player with the Old Trafford landlords, Nike have reiterated that Greenwood has not been re-signed by them.
