Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has claimed that Bruno Fernandes was so lucky to have won a penalty for the Red Devils in their Europa League win over Granada on Thursday, April 8.

Yan Brice Eteki was penalized to have brought down the Portugal international in the Europa League tie in which Bruno stood up to score the penalty at the death.

The 2-0 win was a perfect one for Manchester United as they are now one leg into the semifinal of the Europa League which they last won when Jose Mourinho was in charge.

However, Paul Scholes is of the views that Bruno Fernandes deceived the center referee for him to get a penalty which helped Manchester United to win the game.

According to the report on UK Sun, Paul Scholes added that Granada goalkeeper should have also saved the penalty against Manchester United.

"Lucky to score it as well as the goalkeeper should do better.
"You know when it's given and it goes to VAR that they're going to give it because it's not a clear and obvious error and he has touched him, so there's no way they were going to overturn it.
"Fernandes does very well to get the penalty, they'll be very disappointed. He was just feeling where his player is and the ball's nowhere near him anyway.''

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford set a new record for the English club following his strike in their 2-0 win over Granada in the Europa League.

The red Devils take a giant leap ahead of the return leg - with Bruno Fernandes also going into the score-sheet following his spot-kick late in the encounter.

The 23-year-old Rashford has now equalled a 56-year-old Manchester United goalscoring record becoming the first United player to score 8 goals in European competition proper in a season since Sir Bobby Charlton.

Charlton is considered among the finest players to have ever represented the Premier League giants, a legacy Rashford himself might hope to emulate by the time he hangs up his boots.

The forward has now struck on 87 occasions in 261 matches for United, assisting a further 52 strikes.
