Fernandes reacts to Ronaldo's exit

Fernandes, who reunited with Ronaldo at the club level after the striker rejoined Man United in the summer of 2021, has now broken his silence about the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's departure.

The Red Devils midfielder described his experience playing with Ronaldo at the club level as 'a dream come true'.

However, according to the ex-Sporting star, his pal did not discuss with him his imminent Old Trafford exit.

"No, Cris hasn't discussed with me. Of course, it’s his decision - a personal decision. An issue pertaining to him and his family. We haven't discussed the topics. We are all focused on the national team, the World Cup, how important playing for the national team is for Cris, for all of us," Fernandes said via the Daily Mail.

Fernandes went on to describe Ronaldo as a lasting inspiration, but admitted nothing lasted forever and the superstar's stay at Man United was good while it lasted.

"Now he has taken a decision with his life. Every decision has to be respected, whether we agree or not," he added.

Mourinho agrees with Ronaldo

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Ronaldo went after the young crop of players, calling them out for their lack of attitude and concern about their careers.

The striker mentioned that players have refused to heed his advice, warning they wouldn't have long careers if they ignored veterans of the game.

He did not mention specific players, but Jose Mourinho made similar comments in 2018 when he was Manchester United boss, as he questioned players' attitudes.
