The club added that Manchester United remain focused on building on the progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to reclaim success on the pitch.

Ronaldo is currently on international duty, where he is expected to lead his Portugal side at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Ronaldo's response

Sports Brief has also reported that Cristiano Ronaldo broke his silence, following Man United's decision to terminate his Old Trafford contract.

United ripped apart Ronaldo's lucrative contract just days after his explosive interview with British journalist Piers Morgan.

The Portuguese star was in the final months of his deal with the Red Devils, having rejoined them in the summer of 2021 on a two-year deal.

Ronaldo and United: what happened?

Previously, Sports Brief reported that Ronaldo had finally revealed his issues with United, and more specifically, coach ten Hag.

During the transfer window, it had been rumoured that Ronaldo wanted to quit the Red Devils, but he has now denied the allegations and instead blamed ten Hag and top club officials for trying to force him out of the club.

In what is now considered a clear and complete severance of ties between the two parties, Ronaldo told Piers Morgan that he doesn't respect the club manager.
