FootballPatrice Evra Names One Manager Manchester United Will Regret Not Appointing to Take Charge
- Patrice Evra is unimpressed with Manchester United following the club’s failure to appoint Antonio Conte as permanent manager
- After Manchester United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the Old Trafford hired Ralf Rangnick to take over the club temporarily
- The Premier League outfit then appointed Erik Ten Hag as permanent manager, but that did not go down well with Evra
English Premier League club Manchester United have been told they will regret not appointing Antonio Conte during their turbulent period.
Patrice Evra minced no words when he suggested that Conte is ranked among the best managers in the world and that the Red Devils should have gone ahead to appoint the Italian tactician.
SPORTbible reports that following the sack of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, many had thought United would hire Conte as their next manager, but instead, they opted for Erik Ten Hag.
In a statement to Mirror, Evra said:

"It hurts my heart because I think Conte, Klopp, Guardiola are the best managers in the world right now and we could have had him at Manchester United.
"But some people at the club, they said: 'It’s not our style, it’s not what we’re looking for'."
The Frenchman is also applauding Conte for what the manager has done at Tottenham Hotspur so far but said he will also give Ten Hag his full support.
Evra added:
"And you can see with Tottenham, he helped them to qualify for the Champions League.
"So let’s see, now we have Erik ten Hag. Let’s see what he’s going to do. He has my support. But then, even if you brought a chef in, as the manager of Man United, he’d have my full support.

An exciting swap deal could potentially be in the offing with Simeone interested in Giovanni Lo Celso.
Chelsea interested in Matthijs de Ligt
Sports Brief earlier reported that Chelsea will have to pay a record-breaking fee for a defender if they are serious about signing Juventus defender, Matthijs de Ligt this summer.
The 22-year-old Netherlands defender has been a mainstay in the Old Lady's defense since joining Juventus for €75m in 2019 making him the most expensive defender in the Serie A.
Thomas Tuchel is looking for defensive reinforcements for the Blues after the departure of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen this summer following the expiration of both players’ contracts.
