- Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly told Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to play him in every match
- The Portuguese striker came on as a second half substitute in their 1-1 draw to Everton in the Premier League
- The striker was said to be unimpressed following the manager’s decision to start him from the bench
Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo was reportedly disappointed after being benched in his side’s 1-1 draw against Everton in the Premier League.
The Portuguese striker came on as a substitute in the 57th minute, but it was too little too late as both sides shared the spoils after final whistle of the encounter.
A United source told UK outlet SunSport that the 36-year-old was left disappointed following the draw and was not happy he was on the bench.
The source said via Metro:
“Ronaldo was extremely disappointed for being benched. Ole presumed that he was tired after the Villarreal game, so he decided to only put him on early in the second half.
“But Cristiano told him that he will tell him when he isn’t fit to play and that he wants to play in every single league game.
“He also told him that he has come here to win trophies and that United need to play their most important players in all of the games.”
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer later disclosed that he benched the striker because he thinks he needed more rest having played full 90 minutes against Villarreal three days earlier.
The Red Devils will hope to return to winning ways on Saturday when they take on impressive Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
Varane suffers injury
Meanwhile, Raphael Varane has joined the list of Manchester United stars who will miss this weekend's Premier League clash against Leicester.
The former Real Madrid defender was forced out of France's UEFA Nations League final against Spain at the San Siro Stadium and was replaced by Dayot Upamecano for the remainder of the game two minutes before the first half ended.
This will however mount more pressure on the Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who has already lost Harry Maguire to a similar occurrence.
Frank Lampard linked with Newcastle job
Legit.ng earlier reported that following the takeover of Premier League club Newcastle United by Saudi-backed consortium, former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is reportedly linked with the coaching job.
It was gathered that current manager Steve Bruce is already preparing for a sack as new club owners set to embark on an entire overhaul of the team.
And former Blues’ boss Lampard is set for return to return to managerial position as the new Magpies’ boss, according to reports.
