  • Paul Pogba has had a terrible season and there are concerns that the Frenchman might have played his last game for Manchester United
  • The midfielder was forced off in the 10th minute due to injury as Liverpool walloped the Red Devils 4-0 at Anfield
  • Former Arsenal and Chelsea star William Gallas has stated that the former Juventus midfielder seems mentally weak for the Premier League

Former France international William Gallas has stated that Paul Pogba lacks the mental toughness to excel in the English Premier League and that his situation played out in his last game for Manchester United, Daily Star reports.

Pogba was a shadow of himself at Anfield as Liverpool ran riot, navigating in and out of United’s defence, as it ended 4-0 in favour of Jurgen Klopp’s men.

It has been a miserable season for Pogba and it was evident on Tuesday night as he was forced off in the opening minutes of the encounter and was replaced by Jesse Lingard.

And there are concerns that the 29-year-old is doubtful for this weekend’s massive fixture against Arsenal amid fears that his season could be over.

His contract is also winding down and fellow countryman William Gallas believes Pogba could have played his last game for the Red Devils and will now head to French side Paris Saint-Germain.

Gallas told Genting Cas*no:

“It looks like he has [played his last game for Man United] because he’s had a difficult season, so that’s why a lot of people are criticising him.
“I know he was injured, but before he was inconsistent and we ask players for consistency, especially when you have that ability in the team like Pogba has.
“To play in the Premier League is really difficult. It’s really tough, there is a lot of intensity and you have to repeat your performance almost every game, it’s not easy.
“Some players can do it because they’re strong in their mind. Some players can’t do it, they play one game and their level will be very high and then in the two next games they’ll be average.
“For the quality that Pogba has, you need to be consistent so that’s why people are a little angry with him.”

Mass exodus looms at Old Trafford

Sports Brief earlier reported that as many as twelve Manchester United senior players could depart the club this summer following the appointment of Erik ten Hag as the permanent manager.

Ten Hag, who is currently attached with Ajax, will take charge at Old Trafford at the end of the season as confirmed by the club.

The Dutchman's arrival comes at a time United have endured a frustrating 2021/22 season that will see them end the campaign without a trophy.
