Marcus Rashford has jetted out of England to ‘clear his head’ as he continues to endure one of his toughest spells as a Manchester United player.

The 24-year old, like the rest of the Manchester United squad, will have to make peace with the fact that they will once again go another season without winning a trophy after the lowly exit from the Champions League on Tuesday, March 15.

For Rashford, it is twice the misery for the England star, who seems to have also fallen down the pecking order at the club, with interim boss Ralf Rangnick preferring to start him from the bench more often.

Even from the bench, Rashford has been unable to create the sort of impact that saw him be tipped to soar to the levels of the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.

More recently, he was involved in a controversial episode as he appeared to be engaged in a confrontation with irate fans after the Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid.

After the video of the incident went viral, Rashford insisted he did not insult the fans and instead ‘used my forefinger to direct the fan to 'come over and say it to my face'.

“I had been heckled from the moment I set foot outside the ground, abuse not just aimed at my football,” Rashford said in an emotional statement.

“Recharging his batteries”

With Manchester United not playing again until April 2 when they host Leicester City, the Daily Mail reports that Rashford has flown out of England in a bid to ‘recharge his batteries.

Rashford will be hoping the short trip away from Manchester United will help him both physically and mentally before the Leicester clash.

Rashford, Sancho left out of England squad

It seems like a timely decision for Rashford to leave the country, as he was on Thursday, March 17 left out of the England squad by Gareth Southgate.

Southgate also omitted Manchester City defender Kyle Walker from his 25-man squad for the games at Wembley on March 26 and March 29.

Ben White is back in the squad following a fine run of form at Arsenal and Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi received a first call-up.
