Rigobert Song has made the task of convincing Manchester United youngster Anthony Elanga and Youssoufa Moukoko of Dortmund a priority ahead of his first game against Algeria.

Cameroon will face Algeria in a two-legged game later this month for a place in the World Cup in Qatar this year.

However, according to reports, the former Cameroon captain wants to convince four players into his team before the encounter with Algeria.

Manchester United teen sensation Anthony Elanga, Borussia Dortmund's Youssoufa Moukoko, Joel Matip of Liverpool and Nicolas Nkoulou of Watford are players Song is considering ahead of the playoffs.

Anthony Elanga was born in Sweden by a Cameroon father and has represented the youth teams of the European country, but he is yet to make a senior international appearance.

Meanwhile, Youssoufa Moukoko was born in Cameroon but grew up in Germany, and has also played for the youth team of the European country.

However, Joel Matip and Nicolas Nkoulou will be making a return to the national team after both stayed away from the Indomitable Lions over personal reasons.

Cameroon will host Algeria in the first leg on March 25, 2022 before the return leg in Algeria in four days time. Cameroon remains the Africa side to have made the most appearances at the FIFA World Cup.

Rigobert Song appointed new Cameroon coach

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have named their former captain Rigobert Song as their new head coach.

A statement from the Cameroonian Sports Ministry, signed by the Minister, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, said Song had been appointed on the instruction of the country’s President, Paul Biya.

The statement said that current coach, Toni Conceicao and the entire technical team, had been replaced.
