FootballDillon Hoogewerf: Man United Youngster Joins Monchengladbach on Permanent Deal
- Dillon Hoogewerf is expected to link up with Gladbach's Under-23 side as he works his way into the first team
- It remains unclear how much the Bundesliga giants paid to secure the transfer of the promising Dutchman
- United sold the 19-year-old at a time he had hit top form with their Under-18 team who he scored 12 goals for in 19 appearances during the 2020/21 season
Man United youngster Dillon Hoogewerf has sealed a permanent transfer move to Bundesliga giants, Borussia Monchengladbach.
Hoogewerf is understood to have completed the switch on transfer deadline day for an undisclosed fee.
The Dutchman joined Man United as a 16-year-old back in 2019 following a promising spell with Ajax's youth set-up.
However, despite his stunning goalscoring run with United's Under-18 Premier League in the 2020/21 season, the Manchester club have decided to get rid of him.
According to ESPN, while his move to Gladbach is a permanent one, it ‘includes an initial loan fee and a sell-on.’
"The Dutchman’s permanent move has now received international clearance. Hoogewerf joined United in 2019 and began his scholarship with the club after leaving Ajax in his homeland," a United statement said while confirming the transfer.
"Everybody at Manchester United would like to wish Dillon well for the future," the club added.
The 19-year-old is expected to link up with the Under-23 side at Gladbach with the hope of finding a path to the first team.
Man United midfielder joins Everton
Meanwhile, Hoogewerf's Man United exit came just hours after the Red Devils were hit with the departure of Donny van de Beek.
Van de Beek joined Premier League rivals, Everton, on loan for the rest of the 2021/22 season.
The Netherland international's departure came after a difficult spell at Old Trafford under former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and current interim manager Ralf Rangnick.
Sports Brief reported Van de Beek, who has three-and-a-half years to run on his contract at Old Trafford will have his future at United reassessed at the end of the season when a permanent manager is appointed.
In the interim, he will be hoping to make a major impact at Everton under Frank Lampard who is projected to take charge as manager.
