Days after announcing his retirement from football, Emmanuel Adebayor was spotted drinking garri with sugar and milk in a joyous mood.

During his active playing days, Adebayor was known as one of the finest strikers to have come out of Africa considering his skills, goal scoring abilities and teamwork.

The Togolese was able to garner much wealth through football, more so when he was playing for clubs like Real Madrid, Arsenal and the reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.

As seen on a video spotted on Twitter, the 39-year-old confirmed his love for garri, claiming that it is also his father's favourite, whilst taking a spoon full draped in designer clothing.

What Adebayor said about garri

''This is my father's favourite food and it is called garri. You can take it by putting water, sugar, milk and if you can also get groundnut to make it more delicious.
''But if I can't get groundnut, I will still manage it because I like the food so much and I take it always.''

Garri is one of the staple foods in Nigeria and many West African nations, and cuts across various tribes throughout the region. It is made from processed cassava tuber.

Adebayor announces retirement

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how former Arsenal and Togo forward, Emmanuel Adebayor announced his retirement from football. The 39-year-old hung up his boots after a glittering career which spanned 22 years.

In a video shared on social media, Adebayor expressed gratitude to his fans, former teammates, and coaches. The stunning video also shows clips from his playing days for Arsenal, Manchester City, and Tottenham.

Adebayor enjoyed a stellar career and was the 2008 Africa Player of the Year. The former Togo captain led his country to their one and only World Cup appearance in 2006.
