Pep Guardiola has opened up about Manchester City's 1-1 disappointing draw with Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

City, who recaptured the top spot last Wednesday after an epic win over Arsenal were unable to maintain the grip over the weekend after they dropped points away at City Ground.

The reigning champions were desperate to secure a positive result against Nottingham to boost their chances of retaining the crown.

Guardiola's charges looked on course to carting home maximum points after Bernardo Silva's 41st minute opener, only for Chris Wood to strike in the dying minutes of the match to ensure the spoils are shared.

Guardiola blames his players

Speaking after City's draw with Nottingham, Guardiola shifted the blame to his charges for the disappointing result.

According to the Spaniard, the result was largely down to to his players' failure to kill off Steve Cooper’s resilient and brave Forest.

“We dropped points because we didn’t score more - and we could have also defended with more energy for their goal," Pep said via The Mirror.

“The way we played was brilliant. We should have been 3-0 up at half-time but then we conceded one shot on target and dropped points," he added.

Haaland matches Aguero's record

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Haaland took his tally to 26 in just 21 games for the season. These astronomical stats made City’s summer signing clock another milestone.

He now has the same number of goals as the legendary Sergio Aguero did in his best-ever Premier League season.

In the 2014-15 campaign, the Argentine was unstoppable, as he managed 26 strikes that season under the guidance of Manuel Pelligrini as Man City finished the season in second place, behind Chelsea.
