Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola joked that he was upset with his striker Erling Haaland after their Premier League clash against Southampton on October 8th.
Guardiola was left disappointed after Haaland scored only once as City leapfrogged Arsenal, albeit momentarily, to the summit of the Premier League table.
The Spanish tactician hoped Haaland would keep up his scintillating form of scoring hat-tricks in the clash against the Saints.
Going into the game, Haaland had scored at least three times in every Premier League game at the Etihad. The Norwegian striker got hat-tricks against Manchester United, Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.

Haaland missed a glorious chance against Southampton
Despite managing to get on the scoresheet on Saturday, Haaland appeared to be off his game with one particular chance hitting the post after Phil Foden had set him through on goal.
Speaking after the match, as Goal reports, Guardiola stated;
"I'm so upset with him - he didn't score three goals. That's why there's a petition to sack him from the Premier League!"
Guardiola, however, quickly clarified that he was happy with the striker's overall output. City's other goals were scored by Joao Cancelo, Riyad Mahrez and Foden.

Guardiola was reacting to a petition that had been started to remove Haaland from the Premier League. Sports Brief had reported that Erling Haaland has caused so many ripples in English football that a fed-up fan has started a petition to have the Norwegian banned from Association Football.
