Form coming into the game

Burnley have only picked four points from their last five games, losing three in a row at one point. Manchester City haven’t been perfect either as they dropped points in two of their last five games. Burnley have also been struggling in front of goal of late. In their last three games, they were level at halftime in each of them but went on to lose all three. They failed to score a single goal in all of those games.

History is not on Burnley’s side

Burnley doesn’t have the best track record against City and will have a tough time stopping the defending champions from running riot. City have won the last nine games between the sides, scoring 32 goals in those nine games and only conceding one, BBC reported.

Burnley have also only earned one point against City in the last 11 games between the two sides. Manchester City won the l

Team news heading into the game

Burnley have been hit hard with injuries and will be without some of their key players for the game, the club confirmed on its website. Captain Ben Mee is on the road to recovery but is not expected to feature against Manchester City.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Matej Vydra and Erik Pieters are also unavailable due to injury. Nathan Collins is suspended after being sent off against Brentford. On the visitors’ side, John Stones was injured during the warm-up for England’s international friendly.

Ruben Dias also is out with a hamstring injury, while Ederson is also a doubt after pulling out of Brazil’s international games. Riyad Mahrez represented Algeria in their recent World Cup qualifiers and is expected to sit out of today’s clash.

How the result could affect the table

Burnley are on 21 points and needs a win to keep the pressure on Watford (22 points) and Everton (25 points) above them. Watford will play against Liverpool in the weekend’s opening clash, a game also featuring sides at the top and the bottom of the table.

Liverpool could go to the top of the table, displacing Manchester City, before City take on Burnley. A Watford loss would also be a big boost for Burnley’s survival hopes.

Jurgen Klopp makes an urgent plea to Liverpool fans as Reds resume Premier League action

Jurgen Klopp has beckoned on all Liverpool fans to create a raucous atmosphere when the Reds host Watford on Saturday, April 2 in the English Premier League, Sports Brief earlier reported.

Liverpool host the relegation-threatened Hornets at launch time knowing a win could take them to the top of the league table temporarily.

According to a report via Sky Sports, Klopp has now pleaded for a sensational atmosphere at Anfield to push his players to achieve the needed result. Liverpool are currently second on the league table with 69 points, just a point behind leaders, Manchester City who play away to Burnley.
