Mamelodi Sundowns maintained their unbeaten run in the CAF Champions League when they breezed past Al Merrikh 3-0.
Masandawana welcome back fans to the stadium for the encounter with the Sudanese side and gave their fans a perfect welcome back gift.
Sundowns went into the game knowing that they had already qualified for the quarter-final stage of the competition but didn’t get complacent because of that.
Sundowns started much the stronger side and Surprise Ralani came close to scoring twice in the opening few minutes for the hosts.
Sundowns would eventually take the lead in the 15th minute when George Maluleka headed home. Maluleka has not featured much for the Brazilians but made his chance count. He almost scored a second shortly after, but his free-kick was a bit too high.
Sundowns would remain a goal up with the game going into the second half.
Sundowns turned up the tempo in the second half as they went on to score two more goals. Ralani finally got a goal to his name when he finished smartly in the 66th minute.
Ralani then provided an assist as he set up Kermit Erasmus. Erasmus volleyed into the roof of the goal to make it 3-0, a lead that Sundowns would hold onto until the end of the game.

The CAF Champions League group stages wrap up today and South Africa sides have experienced mixed results in the tournament. AmaZulu were already eliminated before their final game while Mamelodi Sundowns were guaranteed to top their group.
AmaZulu travelled to Guinea to take on Horoya AC, with third place in the group yet to be decided. The Usuthu struggled in the first half against the hosts, as Horoya AC dominated proceedings, Sports Brief reported.
The hosts had numerous chances and take the lead and finally did so on the stroke of halftime. Dramane Nikièma found the back of the net with a beautifully curled effort from the edge of the box.
