This season, Klopp has already won two trophies with Liverpool - the FA and Carabao Cup, and he could make it a treble if his team beats Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday, May 28.

Ferguson was in attendance to present Klopp with the LMA manager's award, and the retired Scot admitted it was a bit painful to see Manchester United’s traditional rivals go from strength to strength in recent seasons.

As he named Klopp as the LMA manager of the year, Ferguson cracked ribs by chanting “This is agony, absolute agony!”

Ferguson and Klopp first met 12 years ago and at the time, the then Manchester United boss advised Klopp to go to a club that had history - something he joked about regretting.

"I should have told him to go to Scunthorpe United," Ferguson joked as quoted by Liverpool Echo.

Klopp also had some jokes in him last evening as he provided the perfect response to Ferguson’s banter, saying:

“I couldn’t understand anything he [Ferguson] said… I’ve improved through working with Robbo and Kenny.”

Another wholesome moment was when Klopp pulled Fergie back in when he was posing for the photo with his award.

Supercomputer predicts next season’s standings

Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported of how a supercomputer predicted a tough start to Erik Ten Hag as Manchester United boss.

The supercomputer backed Manchester City to win the Premier League title for the third season in a row ahead of Liverpool who will have to contend with another second-place finish.

Chelsea are predicted to seal the top three podium, with Tottenham Hotspur earning a Champions League slot once again in fourth place.
