The race for the Golden Boot award also proved to be a thrilling affair as well as Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-Min and Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah tied for first place.
Both strikers finished on 23 goals this season as Son scored twice for Spurs against Norwich and Salah scored once against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Football.London reported.
Cristiano Ronaldo took third place with 18 goals while Harry Kane finished fourth with 17 goals.
Sadio Mané finished with 16 goals while Kevin De Bruyne, Diogo Jota and Jamie Vardy all finished level with 15 goals each.
Salah has now won his third Premier League Golden, two of which he has shared while Son bagged his first award for finishing as the highest goal scorer in the league, The Express confirmed. Salah also became only the fourth player in history to win the award at least three times.
Thierry Henry, Harry Kane and Alan Shearer are the three other players to achieve the feat. Shearer and Henry are the only players to win three in a row, the Premier League confirmed, while Henry is the only player to have won four Golden Boot awards in English football’s topflight.
