This season, the Senegalese has played a vital role in helping the team reach the Champions League final, and the FA Cup final, while Liverpool are also pushing for the league title as well.

Despite his spike in performance in the Premier League, the 30-year-old was snubbed for the Premier League Player of the Season nomination.

His form since February has seen Mane rack up 12 goals in 22 matches for Liverpool, helping him to surpass Diogo Jota as Liverpool's leading scorer in all competitions bar Mohamed Salah.

Football fans took to social media to register their disappointment about Mane's exclusion from this season's Premier League Player of the Year nominees.

The obviously disappointed fans could not come to terms with Mane's absence with some even tagging his conspicuous exclusion as 'criminal.'

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Mohamed Salah, Son Heung-min and Kevin De Bruyne have been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Season award.

The trio are part of an eight-man shortlist announced by Premier League on Friday afternoon. Salah currently leads the race for the Golden Boot award with 22 goals to his name.

He has however suffered from a slump in form that has seen Son move to within one goal of Salah's tally. Salah also leads the assists charts, having provided 13 goals so far in the Premier League.
