Sadio Mané was named Africa's best player in 2019 after an outstanding season with Liverpool and also led Senegal to the final of AFCON that same year.

Meanwhile, Papa Bouba Diof passed on in 2020 after a long battle with sickness. He was the first player to score a goal for Senegal at the World Cup.

His winner against France at the World Cup in 2002 remains a historic moment for Senegal's football.
