Sadio Mane has become Senegal's all time leading scorer at the Africa Cup of Nations and moved joint top with Henri Camara on the West African country's top scorers of all time list.

The Liverpool star netted a sublime goal as Senegal reached the final of the Nations Cup with a 3-1 victory over Burkina Faso.

His finish increased his goal tally to eight, surpassing the likes of Henri Camara (5), Mamadou Niang (4) and Khalilou Fadiga.

Sadio Mane has now netted 29 goals in 86 appearances for the Teranga Lions, same as Henri Camara, a member of the 2002 World Cup quarter finalist squad. Henri Camara needed 99 games to score 29 goals.

Sadio Mane's rich AFCON history started when he made his debut at the tournament in 2015, but spent most of the time on the bench due to the quality at disposal with the likes of Moussa Sow and Dame N'doye starting ahead of the then Southampton player.

Two years later, Mane netted two goals as Senegal reached the quarter finals of the tournament, one against Tunisia and the other against Zimbabwe.

In 2019, Mane netted twice against Kenya before adding one against Uganda as the Teranga Lions got to the finals of the tournament in Egypt, only to lose to Algeria in the final.

Again, the Liverpool star has led the tiny West African nation to the final with three goals and two assist. His three goals at AFCON 2021 came against Zimbabwe in the opener, before scoring in the round of 16 against Cape Verde and in the semi finals against Burkina Faso.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Senegal are through to the final of this year's Africa Cup of Nations tournament after putting up a sensational performance to defeat Burkina Faso in the semi-final, Standard reports.

The Teranga Lions who reached the final at the last edition are now a step closer to clinching the most coveted prize in African football.

Goals by Abdou Diallo, Idrissa Gueye and Sadio Mane were enough for Senegal to render Blati Troure's effort for Burkina Faso a mere consolation as it ended 3-1 in favour of the Teranga Lions. Read more:
