Romelu Lukaku recently made an interesting revelation after making a sensational return to Inter Milan.

The Belgian returned to Italy after one season with Chelsea, with Inter agreeing to pay a loan fee of about 8m euros (£6.9m).

Lukaku was willing to take a considerable wage cut to secure the move back to Inter, and in his first comments since his return, the striker admitted the fans largely played a part in his decision.

He also disclosed that he had been in contact with Inter boss Simeone Inzaghi for a large part of last season.

"The affection of the fans and my team-mates, but also the opportunity to work with the coach. I stayed in contact with him all last season." Lukaku said as quoted by BBC.

Last season, Lukaku was not a regular starter under Thomas Tuchel, although he still managed to get 15 goals across all competitions for the Blues.

In December, he courted controversy after revealing in a damning interview that he saw himself re-joining the then Serie A Champions again.

Inter would have loved to buy back Lukaku outright, but the club’s financial situation would not allow such a move.

It is believed the cub’s President Steven Zhang played a key role in negotiations to eventually broker a loan deal.

Since his controversial interview, Lukaku only managed to score three times for Chelsea in his final 15 games, as the Blues finished third on the log.

Chelsea given green light to sign de Ligt

In other news, Juventus has revealed it could be impossible for them to keep star defender Matthijs de Ligt if he wants to leave for Chelsea this summer.

CEO Maurizio Arrivabene recently revealed the Turin club will be happy to sell the Dutch defender so long their terms are met.

Chelsea has been seen as the major contender to sign de Ligt but must now meet the release clause of the defender which is set at £102million.
