Top Ghanaian Politician Dedicates Court Case Victory Against Anas to Former GFA Boss Kwesi Nyantakyi

Ghanaian politician, Kennedy Agyapong believes his legal case victory over investigative journalist Anas Armeyaw Anas vindicates former Ghana FA president, Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Nyantakyi resigned after an investigative piece by the journalist dubbed Number 12 revealed the ex-FIFA Executive Council allegedly received bribes.

This led to the banning of Nyantakyi as well as getting stripped off all his positions at CAF and FIFA.

Honourable Agyapong, who is also the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, produced a counter documentary titled, Who Watches the Watchman, describing Anas as a blackmailer and an extortionist.

The journalist sued the politician for defamation, but on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, the case was dismissed by an Accra High Court presided over by Justice Eric Baah.

“I find the claims by the plaintiff [Anas Aremeyaw Anas) meritless and they are hereby dismissed," Justice Baah ruled, as quoted by GHANASoccernet.

"From the above, I find the plaintiff is a blackmailer and uses blackmail to extort money from his opponents and people he does not like.

"What the plaintiff is doing is not investigative journalism but investigative terrorism."

The decision was welcomed by the politician who is calling on the journalist to apologize to the people he has harmed through his works.

“We have to be bold to speak the truth, Anas goes ahead to [allegedly] defame people and gets away,” the MP said, as quoted by GHANASoccernet.

“It is only in this country that a journalist covers his face to go and give witness while Supreme Court judges are sitting there… Anas has to come out and apologise. All I am saying is the victory is for Kwasi Nyantakyi.”

GFA boss opens up on low attendance
