"The key was patience. It was an open match, a good match, we had to be patient and give ourselves time," he said after the game. "But here, I am very tired, because it was a complicated match," he added.
"I thank God for this goal and I dedicate it to my dad who has just left us."
"I think it was even the most complicated game of our season so far. As you can see, Anderlecht have a really good team, it was often 50-50."

Paintsil has endured a difficult month, missing Ghana's squad for the World Cup and losing his father.

However, the Genk star showed resilience as he continued to excel at his club.

Joseph Paintsil miss World Cup squad

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Otto Addo has announced his final 26-man squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

At a press conference in Accra, the 47-year-old named his team with several of the notable names making his squad.

Conspicuously missing are Joseph Paintsil of KRC Genk, Majeed Ashimeru of Anderlecht and Felix Afena-Gyan.

Joseph Paintsil scores again

In-form Ghanaian winger Joseph Painstil has responded to his Black Stars snub with a goal and a Man of the Match performance for KRC Genk in the Belgium league on Sunday.

The 24-year-old opened the scoring as Genk defeated Union Saint-Gilloise on the road to move to second place on the table.

In a video posted on social media, the Ghana international pounced onto a defence splitting pass from Patrik Hrosovsky to net the opener after 15 minutes.
