Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo made a scoring return following his injury comeback for English Championship side Bristol City.

Semenyo scored Bristol's third goal in the 3-1 victory over Wycombe in the first round of the EFL Cup on Wednesday night.

The Black Stars striker was making his return from injury since June, after picking a knock while on international duty with Ghana.

Antoine Semenyo replaced Chris Martin in the 70th minute before completing Bristol's victory with a 90th minute strike.

Dylan Kadji opened the scoring for Bristol City in the seventh minute before Al Al-Hamadi levelled for the hosts five minutes after the break.

Kane Wilson gave the visitors the lead on 77 minutes before Semenyo sealed his return with a fine finish.

Antoine Semenyo will be hoping to stay fit with the 2022 FIFA World Cup looming.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Antoine Semenyo has been dropped from the Ghana squad for the 2023 AFCON qualifier against the Central African Republic.

The Bristol City forward missed out on the 25-man squad released by Ghana coach Otto Addo for the game against the Wild Beasts on Sunday.

The 22-year-old will also not take part in the Four-Nation Tournament scheduled for Japan later this month.

Newly-promoted Premier League club Bournemouth are keeping tabs on English-born Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo ahead the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old attacker was a shining light for Bristol City in the English Championship in the 2021/22 season.

Semenyo ended the campaign with eight goals and 12 assists to his name, featuring 31 times in the English Championship in total.
