Retired Ghana international Michael Essien has endorsed the nationality switch of Spain-born forward Iñaki Williams.
The former Black Stars and Chelsea midfield juggernaut took to social media to welcome the decision of the Athletic Bilbao marksman to commit his international allegiance to Ghana.
In a post on Twitter, sighted by Sports Brief, Essien reacted to a publication by the official Twitter account of the Ghana Football Association announcing the nationality change of Iñaki Williams.
Essien affectionately called the Bison, tweeted: "Welcome home @Williaaams45."

The 28-year-old forward confirmed his nationality switch on Tuesday in a heartwarming video posted on Twitter.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghana captain Andre Ayew has saluted Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams following his confirmation that he has decided to represent the Black Stars.
Inaki announced his switch of allegiance through a video post on his Twitter page, declaring his readiness to represent Ghana at the international level.
The Athletic Bilbao forward paid a visit to Ghana during the post-season holidays last month and took the opportunity to hold talks with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) about a possible switch of nationality.
