Here are the other top three Ghana footballers who have converted to Islam

Kwame Baah

Kwame Baah is part of a series of local players who have converted to Islam. The Asante Kotoko goalkeeper was a practising Christian from his childhood until 2018.

The former Tema Youth glovesman converted to Islam and changed his name to Abdul Rahman, per 44gh.com.

Baah was a member of the Ghana U-20 team at the 2015 U-20 FIFA World Cup in New Zealand.

He featured for Asante Kokoko when they defeated Great Olympics 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium last Sunday.

Justice Blay

Blay also converted to Islam four years ago. The Asante Kotoko midfielder kept his religious beliefs private for a long time, until 2018, when he underwent a formal conversion in Tarkwa.

According to GhanaSoccernet, Blay adopted the Muslim name of Abdul Rashid after performing the mandatory Islamic rituals led by Kalimatul Shahada.

Blay is currently on the treatment table after suffering a knee injury two months ago.

He has made 7 appearances for the Porcupine Warriors.

Anthony Baffoe

Baffoe was born in Bad Godesberg, Bonn, in Germany. The former FC Cologne defender was the first Ghanaian expatriate player to play for the Ghana national team.

He made 25 appearances for the Black Stars, scoring four goals. He featured at 1992 and 1994 African Cup of Nations respectively.

Baffoe converted to Islam when he married his wife, Kalsoume Sinari. According to his wife, he took up the Muslim name Abdul Hafiz, GhanaWeb reports.

Baffoe is currently the general secretary for the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana.

Thomas Partey Reveals New Name After Converting to Islam

Sports Brief earlier reported that Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is now referred to as Yakubu after confirming he has changed his name following his marriage to Moroccan girlfriend Sara Bella.

The 28-year-old converted to Islam in March following his relationship with his girlfriend, and although he still remains Partey, he adopted the Muslim name Yakubu.

In a chat with Ghanaian journalist Nana Aba Anamoah, the Arsenal number 5, stated he is a Muslim and is now called Yakubu.
