Asamoah Gyan's exploits during his time on the pitch has indeed made him a global icon and over the weekend a large crowd in Liberia could not afford to miss the sight of the Ghanaian legend.

The former Black Stars captain was in Liberia on the invite of President George Weah to commission a newly built ultra-modern Park.

In a video posted on Twitter, fans are seen cheering and chanting his name as he stepped out of the car to wave back.

Asamoah Gyan shows gratitude to Liberian football fans

The 36-year-old was wowed by the love he received from fans and took to social media to thank them for their amazing support.

"I just can’t stop thanking the Lord Almighty for what I am today, I owe it to the lord and to the fans worldwide. Thank you Liberia," he tweeted.

Asamoah Gyan and other African legends in Liberia to commission Park

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that it was all joy as legendary Ghanaian forward Asamoah Gyan met other African football legends in Liberia for the inauguration of the Invincible Sports Park in Monrovia.

The former Ghana captain was invited by Liberia President George Oppong Weah to witness the unveiling of the newly-built sports complex on Friday, April 15, 2022.

In photos posted on Facebook, spotted by Sports Brief, the former Sunderland striker was all smiles as he met up with some African football icons in Liberia.
