It was former Premier League side, Stoke City that started the brighter of the two as they sought to continue their winning run at the Bet365 Stadium.

However, their efforts were repelled by a resilient Bristol City defense as the game remained even at halftime.

Despite an uplifting performance from the Robins, it was Stoke who created the dangerous chances and after gracing the crossbar from a freekick it appeared the game was destined to end goalless.

But Semenyo and his teammates had other ideas when they stunned the home crowd with a freak goal from Dasilva in the 86th minute.

How did Semenyo perform in his first start since his injury?

The English-born striker was lively in attack for the Robins however his lack of match fitness proved his undoing when he failed to convert a couple of good goalscoring opportunities.

In spite of his inability to finish off the chances that fell his way, Semenyo was a willing runner and linked up well with Chris Martin up front.

He made up for his misses with an assist as Bristol ended their winless run on his first start since his injury in March.

The assist was Semenyo's ninth of the season, taking his goal involvement for the season to 15 in 27 appearances for Bristol City.

Semenyo makes injury return against Peterborough

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that English-born forward Antoine Semenyo made a cameo appearance in Bristol City's 1-1 stalemate with Peterborough United on Saturday afternoon.

Semenyo was introduced in the game after 71 minutes for Nahki Wells as the Robins went in search of a winner however it proved abortive as Peterborough thwarted their efforts.

Despite Bristol City's inability to find the winner, coach Nigel Pearson should be excited following the return of their top marksman.
