Ghana will be hoping Semenyo's injury is not serious as he is expected to be named in the Black Stars squad ahead of the epic encounter against West African neighbours Nigeria.

Semenyo's imperious form since December has seen him involved in the most goals in the English Championship in that period, proceeding to win the Player of the month award in January.

He has scored six goals in 24 games for City and added eight assists, with the 22-year-old flourishing since being moved into a central striker’s role by Nigel Pearson.

Born in London to a Ghanaian mother and Togolese father, Semenyo is also eligible to play for England.

Ghana will take on Nigeria in a two-legged play-off on March 25 and 29, with the winners earning qualification to Qatar 2022.

Antoine Semenyo Draws Inspiration From Didier Drogba and Thierry Henry

Sports Brief earlier reported that Bristol City striker Antoine Semenyo admits he is inspired by Premier League legends Didier Drogba and Thierry Henry.

The 22-year-old is enjoying a blistering season at Bristol City this season, scoring six goals and making seven assists in just 13 appearances.

Still in the budding stages of his career, his playing style has already prompted fans to draw comparisons with Arsenal great Thierry Henry.
