Ghanaian defender Alexander Djiku was outstanding in the French Ligue 1 after scoring a spectacular goal for RC Strasbourg in their 1-0 win over AS Monaco on Sunday.

The 27-year-old gave the home fans something to cheer for after scoring a bicycle-kick considered as one of the best goals of his career.

Djiku was already waiting in the 18-yard box when France attacker, Kevin Gameiro, flicked the ball with his head which came in the direction of the Black Stars whose improvised overhead kick found the back of the net.

The goal ensured the home side recorded a 1-0 win and they are now third on the league log on 47 points, same as Olympique Marseille who will battle Stade Brestois later today.

Meanwhile, this is the fourth loss in the last five matches in all competitions for Monaco, whose only triumph was last week over Marseille .

Sports Brief earlier reported that Ghanaian defender Alexander Djiku produced one of the tackles of the season in the French Ligue 1 after stopping a near-certain goal.

The Strasbourg centre back made an amazing recovery to thwart a Nice counter-attack during the 0-0 draw on Saturday.

With just over five minutes remaining to the end of the game, Nice, who were two men down in the game, got a late counter attack with their forward closing in on the Strasbourg goalkeeper.

French-born Ghanaian defender, Alexander Djiku believes Black Stars teammate Kamaldeen Sulemana has the potential of becoming one of the best players in football.

Sulemana, who turned 20 on Tuesday, has been in scintillating form since joining French Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais in the summer transfer window.

Djiku has played with and against Sulemana, and has found a lot of similarities between the winger and Newcastle United star Allan Saint-Maximin.
