Ghanaian defender Alidu Seidu has been named in the L’Equipe Ligue 1 team of the week.

The 21-year-old put up a monstrous performance at the heart of the defence as his side recorded a 2-0 away victory over Marseille at the Stade Velodromme.

The Ghanaian centre-back played the entirety of the match and had 42 touches, completed 24 passes, won four duels and made five clearances.

He also accounted for one crucial tackle, made four crucial interceptions and blocked three shots.

Seidu’s performance for Clemont Foot against Marseille caught the attention of L'Equipe, who named him in their team of the week.

Alidu Seidu has made 10 Ligue 1 appearances for Clemont Foot this campaign.

He signed for Clermont Foot from the JMG Academy in 2020, playing his first game in a 1–1 daw against in Toulouse in September 2020.

The famous French newspaper also had Vital N'Simba, Cedric Hountondji and Akim Zedadka in their team of the week.

L'Equipe also picked Johan Gastien and Andrei Girotto as their defensive midfielders, while Nigeria's Moses Simon, Justin Kluivert and Téji Tedy Savanier supported Serhou Guirassy in attack.

Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana is injured at Stade Rennes and had to forfeit their game against Troyes at the Roazhon Park on Sunday.

The 20-year-old suffered back pain, according to the club's head coach, and missed out on their 4-1 victory over Troyes in the French Ligue 1.

He was part of the humiliating Ghana team that disgraced themselves during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon earlier this year.
